Accidental Ashtray

The title of this peice is inspired by a conversation I had with my Ceramics teacher. As a general rule there a restrictions around what is fired in his classroom. What started out as a candle holder lost it’s base and suddenly became a “unfireable item”. Having seen the process and intentions of the peice he went ahead and fired it. That is how I ended up with an “Accidental Ashtray”. The color palate of the peice represents the sun and sky with flowers blooming from its edges. Soft pink details contrast the bold colors surrounding them.
